Words and pictures
I got myself a copy of Robert Heinlen's Stranger in a Strange Land, because:

A. It's one of those classic novels I've been meaning to read since forever.

B. It's an attempt to staunch the flow of cash caused by my recent graphic novel addiction.

In other news, I came home this afternoon to a rather warm flat, with an odd burnt metal smell in the air. My first thought was that my PC had experienced a rather drastic meltdown. Then I realised that I had left the oven on all night and all day. It had been on for about eighteen hours. It was on while I slept. It was on when I got up. I finally noticed that it was on when I got home from work.

I suppose that's what you get for cooking so close to midnight.

I rather enjoyed it when I read it. Easy to see why the hippies liked it, too. :-)

I can't believe you left the oven on for 18 hours!

I thought that only my grandma did things like that. You could've burnt your whole house down. That would've been bad. =(

Actually, since I live in a block of flats - I could have burnt 12 homes down.

I was going to mention this earlier, but I thought I would try my best to dull the horrible possiblity of what you could have done.

Really, the chances of an empty oven left on at 180 degrees burning anything down are pretty remote.

If it had been the stove on the other hand...

Hmmm, point taken.
