Enrolled
So, as it turns out I get a semester of "unspecified" credit from my Diploma. That means I get a semester credited, but it doesn't count towards anything for the purposes of forming a major or what-not, and I therefore have to complete all the prerequisites toward any major I want to complete.

Luckily, for most areas of study, you only require one subject at first year to be eligible for a major. So, basically how it'll work is that I'll complete one semester of first year subjects and then, in semester 2, I will begin my second-year subjects. So, I should have my BA in 2.5 years instead of 3.

It's a semester more than it would have been at Vic Uni, but it's so worth it.

I haven't chosen my semester 2 subjects yet because what I do will be determined by what I decide to major in. One downer to this is that I'll have less time to decide on my majors, but since I already know I want to major in Creative Writing, it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

In the meantime I've got first-year subjects as placeholders in semester 2, and I do have the option to not take the semester's credit if I want to do a full first-year. Sif.

So, for semester 1 I am enrolled in the following:

Creative Writing: Ideas and Practice
Introduction to Hollywood & Art Cinema
Medieval Europe: Plague, War & Heresy
Science, Philosophy & History

Fuck the lectures, come to my Cinema Studies screenings!

I can't believe they are willing to give me academic credit for watching movies, what a rort!

Strange, you speak of Uni, but nothing of drinking and wenching..is that not hand in hand?

I started at Melbourne Uni in 1999, on enrolment day I found myself cringing as the woman enrolling me brought up my details including my results from 1999.

7 fails and one H3.

That's what drinking gets me.

The wenching, on the other hand, I'm definitely looking forward to.

You only got a semester? I got a whole year knocked off mine, its fantastic! You could probably get specified credit if you wanted you know, although its a bit of an annoying process cause you have to get subject outlines of all the subjects you want to do and match them with the subjects you took in TAFE

Actually, they've given me exactly what I want.

I don't want to go to University and not study the subject that I love, what would be the point? I don't want them to go "okay, you're most of the way through a writing major, just do two more writing subects and you're done". That, to me, would be heart-breaking.

I know that, to a lot of people, university is not an enjoyable thing and it's just a process they go through in order to have that piece of paper at the end. But, to me the actual learning is equally important.
