A little late...
I've only just gotten around to writing yesterday's poem, weekends being as they are.
I didn't particularly like the challenge set, which was to get inspiration from a poet you don't like.

I figured that it was a bit pointless trawling for absolute drivel doggerel, so I took it to mean a poet that I respect, but simply don't like for reasons of taste or whatever.

The poet I chose was Scotland's own Robert Burns. Burns was a great, highly influential and rather revolutionary poet. I have nothing but the utmost respect for him. My only real issue is that my enjoyment of his poetry is generally marred by the language barrier - as reading a poem with a Scottish to English dictionary in hand is not the best experience!

Anyway, I took inspiration from one of his most famous poems 'To A Mouse, On Turning Her Up In Her Nest With The Plough', which I believe is far superior to my own effort. There just so happens to be a translation into plain English here.
