Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Well, I've finally seen every episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
I can't begin to say how good this series is, and that was one hell of a fitting finale.
Can anyone else name a television series that got progressively better from the first series onward, before ending on a high, rather than reaching its peak and spiralling into mediocrity?

Maybe Blackadder, but considering that the number of episodes total is only a little more than a single season of Buffy... oh and the Millenium special kinda screwed it for them.

Anyway, I was talking about Buffy.

Why is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, in my opinion, the best television show ever made?

No other show has made me do all of these things:

Laugh (a lot)
Cry (okay, weep, but just that one episode)
Feel genuine concern for the characters (and not just about the mortal danger they're in, but about the stuff that really matters)

And all of this with kick-arse, entertaining action.
By the end, there was even "wire-fu".

Scoff, if you must, but there has never been a show so complete, so good on so many levels.
Comedy, drama, horror, action, musical; Buffy was all this and more.

What can I say?
I'm a fan.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer also has a special place in my heart, and yes I laughed, cried (one of the only series that I actually bawled over..like when you think Buffy has killed Anya and she sings that song ::tear::), got angry, and identified with the characters.

I am kinda sad that they ended the Buffy series.. although I loved how they tied things together at the end.

And man... you know it's a good series when they bring in Trogdor the Burninator. Nuff said ;)

Only one other series has ever kept my interest for very long and that was Star Trek (NG). I would have to say that I think it too became better after time.. with storyline and with the acting in it.

I will also say that I don't really like the spinoff "Angel"... it's ok, but I don't like it that much, and the characters don't pull me in as well as Buffy did.

Well, the episode that had me weeping was "The Body".

It truly was a fitting ending, apart from the baseball girl bit, which was not only trite, but took away the universiality of the potentials/slayers and fed us the usual "look how strong America is" crap.

"Trogdor the Burninator"

Joss Wheedon is truly a geek. On one of the DVDs he says something about a lot of the dialogue for The Trio came from real conversations he had.

The first season of ST:TNG is so much like the original series it's not funny. Thank God they realised there was so much more they could do with it.
