Prolific commenter?
Okay, so I've had my LJ for 407 days.
I have made 2007 comments.
That works out to an average of approximately 5 comments per day.

What's your average?

Mik: Kittenmareth_redorb on August 16th, 2004 10:29 pm (UTC)
Hmm.
LJ for 118 days.

That's 1.36 comments per day.

I no longer feel so verbose.
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 07:16 pm (UTC)
Barely a peep
Mikmareth_redorb on August 17th, 2004 07:25 pm (UTC)
Actually, I realised after that my count was only for posts, not comments or replies to comments. Unless there's a way in the LJ to keep track of that which I don't know about, then I've got no idea, but my input will be much higher.
Jacobyak_boy on August 17th, 2004 07:30 pm (UTC)
Your number of comments posted is now 387.

Mikmareth_redorb on August 17th, 2004 07:34 pm (UTC)
In that case, it becomes 119 days, 551 (including this) posts/comments which is 4.6 entries per day.
Jacobyak_boy on August 17th, 2004 07:37 pm (UTC)
I was only counting comments, not posts.
Mikmareth_redorb on August 17th, 2004 07:43 pm (UTC)
Well I'm just a complete muggins then. And I can't be bothered with any more mathematics for today. Oh well.

Vote 1 for canteloupes in the upcoming election! You know where you stand with canteloupes!
Jacobyak_boy on August 17th, 2004 07:49 pm (UTC)
I prefer to stand on cantaloupes, myself.
Mikmareth_redorb on August 17th, 2004 07:52 pm (UTC)
That's why we should vote them into parliament! If we don't like their decisions we CAN stand on them! Although if you manage to get into Canberra and stand on Little Johnny effectively sometime next week I'll be impressed.
melbournian on August 16th, 2004 11:14 pm (UTC)
I don't know, though it has just gone up.

Ive had my livejournal about 9 months, and made about 400 comments, so thats an average of somewhere between one and two comments a day.
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 07:17 pm (UTC)
Are you wearing a prison uniform?
melbournian on August 17th, 2004 10:42 pm (UTC)
No.

It's a Lunachicks shirt. The photo is a mirror image, though the reflection of my shoulder is the right way around. On the original of the photo Squid's autograph is pretty clear.

And you are not the first to ask, though other people who have asked haven't known me, and have been from places where prison uniforms are orange. As far as I know Victorian prison uniforms are generally green .
Gregpeachofpain on August 17th, 2004 04:30 am (UTC)
LJ running for 342 days.
Comments posted 1,699.

Comments per day 4.96 ... so around 5 like you!
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 04:55 am (UTC)
Hmmm... nice - how do you do it?
Jacob: portraityak_boy on August 17th, 2004 05:17 am (UTC)
How do I comment so often?
Five a day?
It's not that much.

I guess I just have something to say on any given topic.
I'm a bit of a smartarse in that regard.

I'm sure your average will be pretty high.
Jacobyak_boy on August 17th, 2004 05:20 am (UTC)
Hmm... or perhaps that would be, how does Peach do it?

There really should be more of an indication when comments arrive in your inbox that they are addressed to someone else.
Robet Éivaayvah on August 17th, 2004 03:45 pm (UTC)
Well... it does QUOTE the entry being replied to. One might think that that could be enough.
Jacobyak_boy on August 17th, 2004 05:13 pm (UTC)
I don't think it is, because I skip over that bit. I mean, why would I read what I already wrote?

The problem is that 90% of comments I receive are to something I said, it's just that rogue 10% that throw me off.

It's because it's almost always to me that I don't bother checking if it isn't to me.

I really think they should be another colour or something so that I can just glance at them and say, "that person isn't talking to me".
Robet Éivaayvah on August 17th, 2004 08:38 pm (UTC)
I usually have to glance at it anyway, just to know what they're replying to.

It's not LiveJournal's fault you're too lazy for a passing glance.
Jacobyak_boy on August 17th, 2004 09:01 pm (UTC)
Well, I can usually tell from the context of the comment what they are replying to. It's that odd one that sounds like it is in response to what you wrote, like Luke's comment above, that throws me off.

It's a waste of my time to re-read the original post all the time, when usually it's unnecessary.
Robet Éivaayvah on August 19th, 2004 06:23 pm (UTC)
Well, that's the price you pay, I guess.
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 07:04 pm (UTC)
It's called "Not being stupid"
Gregpeachofpain on August 17th, 2004 05:35 am (UTC)
He needs to work on his average a bit I think.
Jacobyak_boy on August 17th, 2004 05:38 am (UTC)
Yes. Yes, he does.
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 07:03 pm (UTC)
It's not a competition
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 07:01 pm (UTC)
Did either of you count the comments from my 'other' journals?
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 07:02 pm (UTC)
Not you, Peach
Gregpeachofpain on August 17th, 2004 05:35 am (UTC)
It's not hard if you try.
Jacobyak_boy on August 17th, 2004 05:38 am (UTC)
Unnecessarily replying to everything that comes to your inbox helps.
Jacobyak_boy on August 17th, 2004 05:40 am (UTC)
Realising youhave another point to add, after you've already posted your comment, also helps keep that average healthy.
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 07:07 pm (UTC)
Although that feels like cheating
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 07:07 pm (UTC)
As does this
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 07:06 pm (UTC)
I'm sure it does
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 07:05 pm (UTC)
And you are very trying
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 04:55 am (UTC)
Give me a few minutes - it'll take me a little while to work out how many days I've had my journal...
Jacobyak_boy on August 17th, 2004 05:27 am (UTC)
482 by my reckoning, but I may be out by a day or so (in fact realising now that it's a leap year, I think I was out by a day in my original calculations, but since I said approximately 5, it doesn't matter).

Anyway, with 1918 comments, your average is around 4 a day (3.97 by my calculations, but like I said, it may not be spot on).
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 07:08 pm (UTC)
Oh, so you didn't do it with like a web tool or something?
Jacob: animeyak_boy on August 17th, 2004 07:18 pm (UTC)
No, I just counted the days, using my Windows Calendar.
Gregpeachofpain on August 17th, 2004 05:35 am (UTC)
Time to pull out that abacus.
Jacobyak_boy on August 17th, 2004 05:39 am (UTC)
Do you know how to use an abacus?
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 07:10 pm (UTC)
I can add on one
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 07:09 pm (UTC)
Where do I pull it out from?
Steph_megalomania_ on August 17th, 2004 05:44 am (UTC)
I've had *this* journal since 2003-08-11 (and I'm far too tired to figure that out in days).

Comments posted: 1,583.

Hmm. Not quite as comment whore-ish as I'd thought. Ahh well.
Robet Éivaayvah on August 17th, 2004 03:53 pm (UTC)
Damn. My first year anniversary happened at the end of last month, and I missed it! ;_;

Let's see, 383 days. 1014 commments.

2.6475195822454308093994778067885 posts per day, roughly.
Jacobyak_boy on August 17th, 2004 05:14 pm (UTC)
I missed my anniversary too.
Oh well.
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 07:11 pm (UTC)
Quick, put it in your calendar for next year!
Robet Éivaayvah on August 17th, 2004 09:42 pm (UTC)
Everyone knows that second year anniversaries don't matter.
Outlier Manlukeii on August 17th, 2004 07:10 pm (UTC)
Your anniversary isn't that big a deal
Robet Éivaayvah on August 17th, 2004 08:43 pm (UTC)
That's where you're wrong.

It's the only thing that has ever mattered.

Ever.
