I've seen some excellent films at this year's film festival, but this one was just transcendent. No film has blown my mind like this for a long time.
The real kicker, however, is I don't feel like I can give an across the board recommendation for everyone to go and see it. I'd like to think you'll all love it, but the truth is it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea - there were a few walk-outs at tonight's screening, including the people sitting next to me. Believe me, in many ways, this is not an wasy film to watch - but I think it was incredibly worth it.
Anyway, this is Terry Gilliam at his finest, so if you are a fan of the man's work, go and see this (although I have no idea when it's likely to get a general release).
But, really, the most extraordinary thing about this film is its young star Jodelle Ferland. What a performance! Where they found a ten-year old with this kind of talent I have no idea (well, actually, it was Canada).
