Wow. Just wow.

I've seen some excellent films at this year's film festival, but this one was just transcendent. No film has blown my mind like this for a long time.

The real kicker, however, is I don't feel like I can give an across the board recommendation for everyone to go and see it. I'd like to think you'll all love it, but the truth is it's not going to be everyone's cup of tea - there were a few walk-outs at tonight's screening, including the people sitting next to me. Believe me, in many ways, this is not an wasy film to watch - but I think it was incredibly worth it.

Anyway, this is Terry Gilliam at his finest, so if you are a fan of the man's work, go and see this (although I have no idea when it's likely to get a general release).

But, really, the most extraordinary thing about this film is its young star Jodelle Ferland. What a performance! Where they found a ten-year old with this kind of talent I have no idea (well, actually, it was Canada).

I want to see this as I'm a huge Terry Gilliam fan...yet....I hated the Brothers Grim when everyone else in the world seemed to love it, is this better?

Didn't see The Brothers Grimm, didn't even realise it was a Gilliam film until I looked him up on IMDB.

Anyway, I think this is, I believe, weightier subject-matter. It is about a girl ho uses fantasy to escape the real world in which she is the daughter of junkies. And that's where the film starts, it just gets weirder from there.

Um, that's "a girl who uses fantasy".

She's not "a girl ho".

It's also been my favorite at the festival so far.

I also couldn't help but think of Jeliza-Rose's father as The Dude Lebowski, having moved from pot to smack...

The Dude abides.
