How old I was when I first....
This meme is kinda tricksy, because a lot of the questions about my love life have multiple answers. That is because I don't view my early (primary school/early high school) relationships as being of the same category as my later relationships. As in, I see my first girlfriend as a decidedly different thing to my first serious girlfriend. Hence I have given two ages for some of these answers.

1. Fell in love - 11 / 16

2. Lost someone close to you - 5

3. Got drunk - 15? - Not real sure about this one, especially since there's tipsy and then there's drunk.

4. Smoked weed - 16

5. Got kissed - 11 / 15

6. Went to the hospital for surgery - Never (touch wood)

7. Got your heart broken badly - 11 / 13 / 15 / 17 / 25 - This is one that just seems to get worse, making the previous one pale in comparison

8. Lost a pet - 18

9. Got arrested - They'll never catch me, ha ha!

10. Smoked a Cigarette - 12? / 17 (First drag, can't remember exactly / entire cigarette)

11. Broken a bone - Either 12 or never, I never got a definitive diagnosis on whether my toe was actually broken or not

15. Went to a concert - 16 (The Living End and Something For Kate supporting Bodyjar)

16. Got your own mobile phone - 16

17. Had 1st boy/girl friend - 11 / 16

18. Got a myspace account - I'll be getting that around the same time as I join the local branch of the Ku Klux Klan

19. Snuck out of the house - I can't remember ever doing this, I've never really had to. I have, on the other hand, snuck into the house on many occasions, but not usually for the reasons you might suspect.

20. Had sex - 15 / 16 - Not real keen to get into the nitty-gritty of why I have two different ages on this one, but to anyone who has seen the latest episode of How I Met Your Mother fresh off Bittorrent, I'll just say that it is for a similar, but different, reason to the lobby/observation deck dilemma. Even that is really TMI.

21. Got caught having sex - 16 - Oral counts, right?

22. Pierced other than your ears - My ear was bad enough, and I've let that grow over. Although I'm being a touch hypocritical in saying that, since I am considering getting a tattoo.

23. Snuck someone in your house - My girlfriend moved in with us when I was 16 so, again, it's not really something I ever had to do.

24. How old are you now? - 25

Wow...how come you think so badly of myspace?
Jacobyak_boy on January 10th, 2007 05:22 am (UTC)
It is poorly designed, ugly and invasive.

My number one beef with myspace is that if I happen to visit a myspace page, assuming my browser doesn't simply crash (which has happened), I find that I am forced to listen to whatever crap music the myspace user decides to assault my speakers with.

To be fair, adblock and what-not can relatively easily be used to block all of the unwanted flash content of these pages, but it's even easier to avoid myspace altogether, and since the vast majority of myspace pages have approximately zero content, that's what I do.

Almost all the content on the internet that's worth reading comes in the format of syndicated feeds that I can read on my LJ friends page. And LJ also fills the social networking role, so I don't see why I would want to use a messy site like myspace to do that.

That's cool that you remember all of those ages and relationships and consider all of the endings to have ben tragic.

If I did this meme, I'd have to say that I've never ever had a cigarette. You don't smoke now do you? (If you do, please quit and be healthy.)

It's not that I consider all my breakups that tragic, it's that this meme asks about the first time my heart was broken badly. My point was that at each of the times listed (which isn't all), a new benchmark was set for how badly my heart can be broken. So, the definition of "badly broken" kept changing, so each of thse times was, in a way, the first time.

Those are the times at which I'd say it felt like something new. I mean, a major long-term relationship ended when I was 20 as well, but I would call that on a par with the 17 one. That's not to diminish the hurt of that break-up, but it wasn't especially new.

Question 17
1st boyfriend at 11 - how come I never heard about this?

Re: Question 17
I'm sorry. I thought if you didn't think you were my first, you wouldn't feel special.
