Coen Brothers
Intolerable Cruelty finally came down to less than $30, so I now have another Coen brothers film in my collection.

To complete my Coen brothers collection, I now only have to get:

Blood Simple
Barton Fink
Miller's Crossing
The Hudsucker Proxy

The Hudsucker Proxy is now out on DVD, but I don't know about the rest. I fear that Blood Simple, being their relatively obscure debut, may never be released, but I'll wait and see.

I'm also eagerly anticipating their next film The Ladykillers, which intriguingly is a re-make of a 1955 film that starred Alec Guiness. The most exciting aspect of this is Tom Hanks has the lead in a Coen brothers film! What a killer combo!

Anyway, there is also one other "Coen brothers" film that I might consider for my collection (although I haven't seen it). Crimewave is a rarity, that is a film that was written by the Coen brothers, but directed by someone else (Sam Raimi).

Maybe I'll collect all of Sam Raimi's films as well. I already have Spider-Man and Darkman.

Got it for $15 ex-rental... :-P

Whilst DVDs don't steadily degrade the way VHS tapes do, I'd still be wary buying a DVD that had already been viewed dozens of times by complete strangers who have little vested interest in maintaining the quality of the disc.

I do own plenty of ex-rental tapes, but anything I really care about I would want to buy new. So far, I have only upgraded one VHS tape to DVD (Rocky Horror, because it's my favourite film and because the DVD has some very interesting features) but am considering it for my Monty Python films.
